Charlie

It is one of the saddest days in our house that I can remember in a long, long time. Our beloved cat Charlie was diagnosed earlier this week with terminal kidney failure, and today I had to take him to the vet and have him put to sleep. It was one of the hardest things I have ever done. Charlie was an incredibly kind, gentle, patient, loving soul who brought so much joy to us in the five short years that we knew him. We miss him terribly.

Goodbye, dear friend.

Hosie & Michael,

I am so sorry for the loss of Charlie. I was so saddened when I read the post and had no idea that your lovable boy had any health problems. Please know that I am sending my love and a lot of hugs to both of you as you grieve the loss of this very special member of your family. I'll be sure to deliver hugs in person next weekend at the wedding.

Love, Tracy

Thanks Tracy. It was really unexpected. We knew one of his kidneys was bad for a while, but the other one was compensating really well, literally for years. Our vet has told us for a long time that cats do really well overall with decreased kidney function so we never worried about it.

But a couple weeks ago he just suddenly started behaving really sick, and we didn't know what was going on. Took him in to the vet, and the next thing we knew, he was in the cat hospital, and an ultrasound revealed that his other kidney had suddenly stopped doing its job too. It all happened so quickly... we are totally stunned.

I just read this...I am so sorry to hear about sweet Charlie. He was truly one of the most amazing cats I have ever encountered! What a gift to have had him in your family, even if for a relatively brief time. Again, I (we) are so sorry to hear about him. See you soon!!
